Fertilty Awareness Mastery Mentorship

✔️ Are you a women's health professional?
✔️ Do you have a professional designation (midwife, nurse practitioner, dietician, nutritionist, acupuncturist, naturopath, chiropractor, massage therapist, pelvic floor physiotherapist, or other professional designation)?
✔️ Are you a women's health coach, fertility specialist, or other type of women's health practitioner?
✔️ Are you currently working towards a professional designation in women's health?
✔️ Have you been searching for a practical way to incorporate fertility awareness chart interpretation into your women's health practice?

If you answered "YES" to any of the above questions,

the Fertility Awareness Mastery Mentorship

is what you've been searching for!

The Fertility Awareness Mastery Mentorship (FAMM) is unlike any other fertility awareness training program! This program is designed specifically for health professionals, like yourself, who are already working with women in their practice.

Transform Your Practice in 9 Months!

You aren't looking to change your entire practice, or commit to a 2-year Fertility Awareness Educator certification program (because you already have a professional designation!). If you wanted to become a certified Fertility Awareness Educator (FAE), you would already have jumped into one of the existing FAE certification programs.

You want to incorporate high-level fertility awareness knowledge into your existing practice. You're looking for an in-depth, professional training program that covers fertility awareness-based methods, advanced chart interpretation, and using the menstrual cycle as a diagnostic tool — specifically.

You're a busy professional, and you want a program that cuts out all of the fluff and gets strait to the point. You need a program that focuses on what you need to know in a practical sense as you build your professional practice. In other words, you want a program that shows you how the science applies to real life so you can better support your clients (with ample research and real-world case studies!).

FAMM is perfect for you because:

  • You want to incorporate menstrual cycle chart interpretation into your existing practice in a professional and scientific way
  • You understand how the menstrual cycle works, but you don't know how to interpret complex or abnormal menstrual cycle patterns and events
  • You know the menstrual cycle is a woman's fifth vital sign, but you don't feel confident reading and interpreting your client's menstrual cycle charts (especially complex cases)
  • You want to utilize menstrual cycle charting as a diagnostic tool in your practice to help your clients identify underlying health issues
  • You want to be able to identify possible health conditions and hormonal imbalances based on the patterns you see in your client's menstrual cycle charts
  • You want to help your clients improve their chances of conception through menstrual cycle charting
  • You want to help your clients identify possible fertility-related issues through menstrual cycle charting and chart interpretation
  • You want to empower your clients to understand how their body works through menstrual cycle charting
  • You want to support your clients to feel confident about non-hormonal birth control options
  • You want to understand the benefits and limitations of fertility awareness-based methods of birth control so you can confidently support your clients when they want to transition off hormonal contraceptives
  • You want to help your clients improve a variety of cycle-related issues including irregular cycles, PMS symptoms, low progesterone, short luteal phase, premenstrual spotting, light, heavy, and/or painful periods, etc.

What will we cover in the program?

FAMM provides high-level training in menstrual cycle chart interpretation in a scientific and systematic way. It will help you incorporate fertility awareness cycle charting in your practice by teaching you to interpret your clients' fifth vital sign. Below is a snapshot of the course curriculum. Our classes will be a mixture of lectures, case studies, guest speakers/presenters, question and answer sessions (with live chart reviews), and much more!

Introduction to fertility awareness-based methods

There is no one, universal "fertility awareness method." Instead, there are many different fertility awareness-based methods based on the principles of fertility awareness cycle charting. We'll go through the main charting methods in detail so you understand the similarities, differences, and charting modalities of each.

Part of your FAMM training involves tracking your own menstrual cycles in a systematic way. You'll learn how to track, read, and interpret each fertile sign in a standardized way, setting the stage for advanced cycle interpretation.

Fertility awareness method birth control rules

How effective is fertility awareness? Why does it fail for some women? What can you do to obtain the high perfect-use effectiveness rate of 99.4%? FAMM will answer these questions and more, giving you a deeper understanding of the evidence-based practices to help your clients achieve the highest possible efficacy when using fertility awareness.

What does a normal menstrual cycle look like?

Discover the science behind menstrual cycle charting and how it matches up to the menstrual cycle using a combination of real world case studies and peer-reviewed research.

Coming off the pill

You'll learn how to support your clients during the post-pill transition phase. We'll cover strategies for supporting the return to normal cycling through a combination of peer-reviewed science and real-world case studies.

Conceiving with fertility awareness

Strategies for optimizing conception, a deep dive into cervical mucus and the important role it plays in conception, and much more!

Identifying the connection between abnormal cycle patterns and related health issues

Discover the role that nutrition, lifestyle factors, and a variety of common health issues play in menstrual cycle abnormalities. You'll learn a systematic way to analyze and interpret menstrual cycle patterns to identify underlying health issues and evidence-based practices to support your clients bring their cycles into the normal range. This includes advanced training in the most common health issues that cause menstrual cycle disruptions including PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome), HA (hypothalamic amenorrhea), thyroid disorders, PMS (premenstrual syndrome), endometriosis/adenomyosis, and gut-related issues.

Postpartum charting

The biggest factor that determines how soon your client's fertility will return postpartum is the duration and frequency of breastfeeding. Postpartum charting is possible, but there are a variety of specific challenges that make it different to regular menstrual cycle charting. You'll learn how postpartum charting differs to regular charting, and how to support your clients to be successful if they choose to use fertility awareness in the forth trimester.

"Lisa offers a comprehensive program where she shares her extensive knowledge and experience working with Fertility Awareness clients. She gives clear guidance on Fertility Awareness techniques and how to teach FAM to clients. The material was engaging and fun! Lisa creates a warm and inviting space for students to learn. I definitely recommend this program to any practitioner who is interested in offering Fertility Awareness in their practice. You will come away with not only the tools to help clients but also many helpful resources and most importantly a solid foundation on why this work is called the Fifth Vital Sign! "

Lisa's training gave me the deeply rooted confidence to guide my clients in using the fertility awareness method for conception or birth control and as a true fifth vital sign. The program is comprehensive, thorough, and at a level of training + support you won't get anywhere else. As a result, my clients report feeling a newfound hope they thought was lost."

Haley Smith, MScN

"A phenomenal program for health professionals. As a Preconception Health Coach & Holistic Nutritionist, I was looking for a certification program that would help me bridge the gap between menstrual cycles and fertility. Learning alongside Lisa was an incredible experience! Her patience, attention to detail, wealth of knowledge and passion for this subject helped me learn in a way that could not be done through a self guided program. Learning how to use the menstrual cycle and accurate charting to identify root causes to health problems was not only beneficial for my business and clients, but also extremely empowering for me as I learned how to implement it into my own life. I’m excited to be a part of the Alumni program and stay connected to Lisa’s community. "

Preconception Health Coach — Naturally Nora

"As a newbie practitioner, FAMM was exactly what I needed. Not only was the content of the course stuff that you’ll see in practice, no fluff, but the small group setting made it easy for me to comfortably put my hand up and ask questions AND the additional Slack channel was a game changer to be able to say to clients “I don’t know the answer, but let me ask in my mentorship group”, which any good practitioner knows is SO important to be able to do. Lisa’s guidance and feedback not just helped me build my knowledge base, but build my ability to be confident when talking to my clients. She helped me become a better guide and coach and think through period problems with my clients more critically. 10/10 recommend."

Frequently Asked Questions

I know you have a few questions, so here is a list of the most common questions about FAMM:

I already know how to chart my cycles, what will your course teach me that I don't already know?

FAMM teaches a standardized method of charting that allows you to use the menstrual cycle as a vital sign to the fullest extent. Although you may understand how to chart your own cycles, most women seek professional support when they have health-related challenges and abnormal menstrual cycle patterns. In other words, most of your clients will have menstrual cycle charts that look nothing like yours! Without high-level training in standardized charting protocols, and advanced chart interpretation, you'll find yourself unsure of how to counsel your clients. With a FAMM certification, you'll have the tools you need to assess each phase of the menstrual cycle, and thoroughly investigate all areas with your clients.

What is the difference between the FAMM program and other Fertility Awareness Educator programs like FEMM, The Well, and Justisse?

Unlike these and other fertility awareness training programs, FAMM is designed specifically for women's health professionals. This means that all unnecessary “fluff” outside of fertility awareness method training, and the science behind using the menstrual cycle as a diagnostic tool have been removed. All modules, lectures, and homework assignments are directly related to what you will use with clients in your practice. Additional lessons on feminist theory, ideology, history, and other interesting but time consuming modules have been excluded to keep this program to a manageable 9 month timeframe. All homework assignments are directly related to what is necessary to work with clients, so you can rest assured that no class time will be wasted. You will not be subjected to any time consuming “filler” work that is not necessary to support your clients.

Unlike many fertility awareness training programs, FAMM has a strong focus on teaching you how to use the menstrual cycle as a vital sign. FAMM teaches you how to identify common health issues via the menstrual cycle chart through a standardized charting methodology. You may have already taken a fertility awareness training program that left you confident in teaching your clients how to chart. However these programs often leave you unable to interpret abnormal charting patterns, or support your clients to balance hormones, and improve their cycles and their overall health. FAMM does both — leaving you confident in teaching your clients to chart their cycles and helping them resolve their cycle issues. FAMM teaches you to use the menstrual cycle as a diagnostic tool with your clients. This allows you to use their menstrual cycle charts as part of their overall client work-up, and gives you a much deeper insight into the connection between the menstrual cycle and their overall health.

I have already taken a fertility awareness education program, and I want to know if FAMM will be different?

If you've already taken a fertility awareness educator training program, you know that there's a difference between learning to teach your clients how to chart their cycles, and learning advanced chart interpretation (and related health protocols). Many programs teach the charting aspect, but fail to provide the in-depth training you need to help your clients restore normal cycling. After all, you're looking at this program because you recognize that your training didn't quite cover everything you were hoping to learn! FAMM will teach you a standardized charting protocol to better analyze and interpret cervical mucus and temperature, and it will leave you with the tools you need to support your clients restore normal cycling from a functional/holistic perspective.

Do I need charting experience to join FAMM?

You don’t need any charting experience to join FAMM (there is no minimum charting requirement); however, you are required to chart your cycles for the duration of the program (as it is an important part of the mentorship process). With that said, if you haven't started charting your cycles, consider starting now so you have a few charts under your belt before FAMM begins!

I'm not a women's health professional, and I don't already work with clients. Can I join FAMM?

Unfortunately not. FAMM is designed specifically for women's health professionals with an existing practice. Exceptions may be made for students in professional training programs, so if you are currently a student in a professional program you are welcome to submit an application. However, if you're not a women's health professional and you don't have an existing practice working with clients, then FAMM isn't the right option for you at this point. I would suggest considering my 10 week Fertility Awareness Mastery LIVE group coaching program as an option to help you increase your fertility awareness knowledge in the meantime. Otherwise, you're welcome to apply to FAMM in the future once you've received your professional certification, and you've started working with clients!

Will FAMM address fertility issues?

Yes! FAMM will cover advanced fertility awareness techniques to support your clients optimize their chances of conception, optimizing sperm and egg quality and much more!

Am I eligible for a FAMM certification upon completion of the program?

Yes! Once you've successfully completed FAMM (including all relevant lessons and assignments), you'll have an opportunity to complete the FAMM certification process. Upon successful completion of the FAMM certification process you'll be able to publicly promote yourself as a FAMM certified practitioner, and you'll be eligible for a public listing in the practitioner directory (among other benefits that will be discussed in the program).

How much time will be required for reading, assignments, and additional coursework outside of our meeting times if I want to receive a FAMM certification at the end of the program?

In order to get the most out of FAMM, you'll want to put aside an average of about 1–2 hours per week in addition to our weekly calls (depending on the topic and assignment). Some weeks will be less and others will be more. There will be monthly assignments, and additional reading assigned to ensure you are ready to work with clients to the fullest capacity. The bulk of the assignments fall within the first 3-4 months of the program. The second half of the program is focused on client work. The FAMM certification process was designed to ensure you have the motivation you need to achieve the highest level of success with this program!

Which fertility awareness method will I learn in FAMM?

FAMM practitioners learn the symptothermal method, using evidence-based strategies (such as cross-check and pre-ovulatory double check rules) to ensure the highest possible efficacy for clients.

Will FAMM provide me with a formal fertility awareness educator certification?

The Fertility Awareness Mastery Mentorship will not provide formal 'fertility awareness educator' certification. Graduates of the FAMM certification program receive the designation: FAMM Certified Practitioner. FAMM is designed for health professionals with existing practices, who wish to incorporate high-level fertility awareness knowledge into their client work (by providing you with the practical knowledge you need to do so). The FAMM program will leave you just as knowledgeable, if not more so, as anyone who has the 'fertility awareness educator' designation.

What time will the weekly group calls be held?

Weekly calls are usually held on Wednesdays at 12:30pm EST for 90 minutes.

What if I have to miss one or more of our calls?

All sessions are recorded, and will be posted to the FAMM online portal shortly after each week's call.

The investment in FAMM is a stretch for me at the moment, will I see a return on my investment once I complete the program?

The FAMM certification program will not only allow you to better serve your existing clients by teaching you to use the menstrual cycle as a diagnostic tool, but most practitioners go on to add an additional offering of fertility awareness charting support in their businesses. During the program, all FAMM practitioners are required to complete a practicum with 4 to 5 clients by the end of the program. Most practitioners are able to recoup a significant portion of their investment during the practicum itself by taking on these additional clients.

Also, you will learn to take all of your clients through the FAMM process — a step-by-step proprietary process that all certified FAMM practitioners use to teach fertility awareness to their clients and support them to normalize their cycle parameters. Once you have completed your certification, you will have already taken several clients through this process, and you will be ready to incorporate a new offering into your practice. In other words, you will see a return on your investment during the program itself, and it will continue to repay dividends in your business for years to come.

Do you offer discounts for your programs?

I do not offer discounts as that would not be fair to the other members of the program. However, payment plans are available.

If the investment to join this program is a stretch for you at the moment, there are many low and no-cost options available:

What if I change my mind? Can I get my money back?

If you wish to cancel your enrollment you have ten (10) days from the date of payment to request a refund. You will receive a refund for the amount you paid minus the cost of any materials that you have received (i.e. any materials sent in the mail upon registration). There will be no refunds provided after this 10 day period.

What if I get pregnant midway through the class?

Congratulations! Note that if you become pregnant during FAMM, there are no refunds provided in that situation.

I've noticed that you use the word woman in your books and on your podcast. Will you be using gender neutral language in FAMM?

The language used in FAMM will reflect real world clients and experiences. As such, there will be gendered language (i.e. women, men), and inclusive/gender neutral language when appropriate.

Will I have access to ongoing support after the program is over?

You will have lifetime access to the FAMM online portal when you graduate. This includes future updates and guest speaker sessions. When the program is over, there are several options for alumni graduates to receive ongoing support as needed.

How do I know if FAMM is right for me?

  • You'll love FAMM if you're passionate about women's health, and genuinely excited to discover how the menstrual cycle can be used as a vital sign in your client work.
  • You'll benefit from FAMM if you have the time and energy to commit to it for the next 9 months. "Commit" meaning that you are able to attend the weekly sessions, chart your cycles, and participate fully in the program.

  • You are thrilled to join a program that offers a comprehensive and practical way to incorporate fertility awareness cycle charting into your client work.

FAMM is right for you if:

  • You are a women's health professional who wants to add fertility awareness cycle charting to your existing practice (i.e. midwifes, nurses, dieticians, nutritionists, acupuncturists, naturopaths, alternative medicine providers, massage therapists, pelvic floor physiotherapists, fertility awareness educators, health coaches, or other type of women's health practitioner)
  • You enjoy learning in a group setting, and you love learning from and with other women
  • You want to cut through the fluff and focus on the practical application of fertility awareness cycle charting in your professional practice
  • You are willing to chart your own cycles throughout the program as an important part of the learning process

FAMM is not right for you if:

  • You're not a women's health professional, and you want to become a certified fertility awareness educator (there are a variety of other programs available that provide this certification!)
  • You do not have an existing women's health practice or professional designation (and you are not currently enrolled as a student in a professional training program)

  • You do not feel comfortable participating in a group program or group video calls (i.e. zoom)
  • You're not comfortable with computers and/or technology (i.e. attending weekly calls over zoom, submitting assignments and accessing/viewing class recordings via our online portal, etc.).
  • You are not willing to chart your own menstrual cycles at any point during the program
